The newly constructed Hongkong Post Headquarters is an eight-storey building with a basement level. It serves as the new central complex after its relocation from Central. The building houses various facilities, including Headquarters offices, a Postal Gallery for historic display and public education, a bulk airmail centre, a training centre, a delivery office and other ancillary facilities such as meeting rooms and conference rooms. Along with the adjacent Central Mail Centre, which functions as a central mail processing centre for Hongkong Post, the new building forms a new central postal hub in Hong Kong.
The new Hongkong Post Headquarters adopts energy efficient features and renewable energy technologies including water-cooled chillers, LED light fittings, a solar hot water system and a photovoltaic system. To promote water conservation, a rainwater harvesting system for landscape irrigation has also been implemented.
In the Central Mail Centre, specialized mail processing systems have been introduced, which includes a Robotic System for automated sorting of small packets, and an Optical Character Recognition and Video Coding Integrated System (OVIS) for sorting the letters by reading the addresses on them.
