HKIE-Building Services Division successfully organized the technical visit to the Henderson on 21 December 2024. The technical visit received the overwhelming responses with 36 members joining and appreciating this new iconic commercial building in Central.
The half-day visit is a fruitful one incorporating both guide tour to various iconic locations such as the banquet hall and plant area of the building together with the project presentation by the members of project team. Our members appreciate the smart digital technologies and advanced design in achieving wellbeing and environmentally friendly such as the special design of the curved glass facade material in enhancing thermal comfort, AI Energy Analytics and the seamless IoT integration for smart building management. Special design of building services systems in the building including lift destination control system, configuration of central chiller plant s and multi-zone Air-Handling Unit system were also introduced. The project teams also highlighted the key challenges overcame during the design and construction stages.
Following a detailed project introduction, our members then visited various energy-saving and human-centric features of the iconic building including solar responsive ventilator and electric vehicle charging facilities. This project-specific solar responsive ventilator installed at the periphery of office areas with the aim to improve the thermal comfort of workers in the periphery areas and reduces the reliance and energy consumption on the centralized HVAC system. Through the site appreciation of this special features, members were able to understand the philosophy the building of sustainability, smartness, health and green in the design of this new high rise building in HK. The visit was then concluded with an insightful discussion on special building features between the project team and members.
